Creating the
World We Want
In 2002, Recycled
Office Products Inc. first distributed 100% post-consumer,
processed chlorine-free paper nationwide. To appreciate the
magnitude of this development, one must realize that in 1999,
the best paper available in many areas, including Washington
DC, was 30% post-consumer, bleached paper.
In 1999, Recycled
Office Products Inc. and the Washington DC based Resource
Conservation Alliance, a project of Ralph Naders non-profit
The Center for Study of Responsive Law, launched the DC Chlorine-Free
Buying Club. This was the beginning of making unbleached, high
post-consumer paper available in the 48 contiguous states.
Since 1999, Recycled
Office Products Inc. has distributed over 119 tons of paper
with impressive environmental savings. Compared to virgin paper,
119 tons of 100% post-consumer paper saves:

In addition, this
paper produces no dioxin. Dioxin has been connected with many
cancers, infertility, learning disabilities, diabetes, and other
critical health problems.
The Club is a great
example of what can happen when committed purchasers and distributors
unite their energy and purchasing power. Together we can do
what none of us can do alone.
